German Foreign Minister says Germany and the West are in a war with Russia

The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, 42, made a statement in the European Union Parliament on Tuesday, claiming that Germany, EU and the West is fighting a war against Russia.

“And therefore I’ve said already in the last days – yes, we have to do more to defend Ukraine. Yes, we have to do more also on tanks. But the most important and the crucial part is that we do it together and that we do not do the blame game in Europe, because we are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other.“, said Baerbock.

It is not the first time Baerbock makes these controversial statements with regards to her standpoint of view to the conflict with Russia. In August 2021, she said in a speech in Prague, that she intends to deliver on her promises to Ukraine “no matter what my German voters think“.

The Guardian journalist, Martin Kettle, writes today in the newspaper that the war in Ukraine is in fact a war between the West and Russia. “Sending tanks to Ukraine makes one thing clear: this is now a western war against Russia”, Kettle wrote in his column.
